[TESOL 2a, 2d; InTASC 2(j)] Summary of Current Course Content Knowledge Academic engagement through active participation in instructional activities related to the course objectives is paramount to your success in this course and future courses. Through interaction with your instructor and classmates, you will explore the course material and be provided with the best objective and competency mastery opportunity. To begin this class, review the course objectives for each Topic, and then answer the following questions, as this will help guide your instructor for course instruction. 1. Which weekly objectives do you have prior knowledge of, and to what extent? 2. Which weekly objectives do you have yet to learn of? 3. What course-related topics would you like to discuss with your instructor and classmates? What questions or concerns do you have about this course? I have some prior knowledge of the weekly objectives. I’m an English learner, and English is not my first language; Spanish is. I do have some knowledge of the Arizona laws from my previous
class. I’m interested in learning my state's policies and laws governing language instruction. I have never taken an ESL course before, but I took an ESL class growing up. I was a Head Start teacher, and we taught the students everything in English and Spanish. I am concerned about balancing the demands of being a kindergarten paraprofessional and getting in the 15 hours required in school time, primarily since I work full-time and to be able to complete all my projects on time. I'm excited to learn more about how to help ESL children and families in my district.
